Change Career - How to do it!

How to change career fields

Gone are those days, when people sit in just one career all the days of their lives, these days you will find someone with just one career field which had therefore made changing career easier than it used to be and recruiters are also aware of this fact too.

Things to consider when changing career / change career

Gain relevant work experience

Getting the relevant experience and requirements which relates to the career you are changing to. Experience could be gained by picking up hobbies, classes, and or maybe joining industrial related organizations that relates to the career you are changing into in order to get to familiarize yourself with your new career.

Emphasize on your transferable skills

This is can be very useful especially when you do have the exact skill or experience the recruiter is looking for. For example if you put your most recent job at the beginning of your resume and it doesn’t match what the recruiter requirement, they may not short list you, but starting with a summary field shows the best part of who you are even before getting to your real qualifications.

Identifying the skills and experience from your previous job/experience that directly applies, should be highlighted, this will show the recruiter what you have to bring into the organization.

Make the most out of your experiences

It is fair enough if you do not have the matching experience but you should try to sound as good as possible. We should be aware that employers do not only look for hard skills such as the skills that are precise to a particular and only be taught, they are also interested in soft skills such as skills that cannot be taught and are tangible like communication and management skills , a strong work ethnic and so many more. These skills alone are some sort of assets to the potential organization, but only if they are emphasized they might not know you have them.

Sometime, you never can say, they might just want to try their luck on you even if you do not have the requirements or experience required, but this will mean that you will have to work extra hard to be successful since the other candidates might be more experienced.
